The biggest crowd ever, and the best sale ever, are two ways to describe this year's Fuoss Angus Ranch sale. Dave and Kathy Fuoss have worked hard to build this herd of Angus, and to produce the kind of bulls that the commercial man demands in South Dakota.

This year's set of bulls were sired by several popular AI sires, as well as by the Fuoss Ranch herd bull battery. I believe this was the best set of bulls that Fuosses have produced from top to bottom. They offered yearling, two-year-old, and fall born bulls. The Fuosses keep the bulls until May, and they are unconditionally guaranteed.

There was plenty of opportunity to walk through the bulls before sale time as this was a beautiful early spring day. Much information was found in the catalog and on the supplement sheets for each bull.

The top selling bull of the day was Lot 82, a son of LT In-Valuable 1046. He was out of Fayes Miss Trixie 414, a daughter of TC Foreman 016 who had ratioed 105 on nine calves. This calving ease bull had a 77 pound birth weight, a weaning weight of 782 pounds to ratio 123, and a yearling weight of 1,452 pounds to ratio 117. His EPDs were CED 7, BW 0.7, WW 65, YW 106, MILK 21, MARB 0.47, and REA 0.43. He had a 15.1 sq. in. rib eye. He sold to longtime repeat buyer, Dan Valburg, White River, S.D., for $12,500.

Lot 70 also sold to Dan Valburg. This bull was a son of Mohnen Long Haul 502 and out of a daughter of TC Aberdeen 759. Born at 72 pounds, he weaned at 678 pounds and grew to a yearling weight of 1,364 pounds. He posted EPDs of CED 8, BW 2, WW 54, YW 95, and MILK 32. His IMF percent was 6.41 to ratio 119. He was recommended for heifers, and his purchase price was $11,000.

Also at $ 11,000 was Lot 95, who headed home with Cliff Valburg, White River, S.D. This son of WMR Timeless 458 was out of a daughter of WAR Alliance 9126 who had ratioed 116 on four calves. He had EPDs of CED 7, BW 2, WW 71, YW 119, MILK 29, MARB 0.30, REA 0.66, and $B 119.85. Born at 79 pounds, he weaned at 719 pounds and had a yearling weight of 1,468 pounds to ratio 115. His IMF percentage was 5.52.

Lot 45 sold for $ 10,000 to Carson Carlisle, Ft. Pierre, S.D. This son of VAR Reserve 1111 was out of a daughter of Mogck Sure Shot 260. His stats included EPDs of CED 13, BW -0.2, WW 58, YW 99, and MILK 35. He had a 70 pound birth weight and a weaning weight of 684 pounds to ratio 108. His rib eye was 15.4 sq. in.

Doug Perry, Presho, S.D., bought Lot 108 at $9,500. He was a son of LAR Upward 571X and out of a daughter of Brooks Meat Packer 9926. Born at 80 pounds, he weaned at 690 pounds to ratio 108.

The top selling fall bull sold to Jerry Bush, Onida, S.D., at $ 9500. Lot 16 was a son of LaGrand Chisum 1048 and out of a daughter of SAV Net Worth 4200. This bull knew how to grow as he had gained 5.1 pounds a day on test and weighed in at 1,665 pounds.

The top two-year-old bull was Lot 30, selling for $8,750 to Ross Krull, Harrold, S.D.

This was a great day for this family, as well as for the people who came to this sale for the good bulls, the food, and the great hospitality.
