Roger Joseph along with son Robert and his wife Lacey and family presented a very good set of long aged bulls for their 16th Annual sale.

The roads were not the best for traveling and I was forced to drive considerably under the speed limit for most of the trip from home to Valentine, Nebraska. Considering the road conditions, there was a very nice crowd of buyers on hand for the sale that sat in and purchased bulls at a steady pace.

The Joseph family is in the beef business. They have proudly represented the American beef industry from pasture to plate for 100 years starting with the great-grandfathers who worked the land and cattle. The generations that followed include seedstock producers, feedlot managers, grocers and restaurateurs. With roots that deep in the industry, they know how to turn grass into beef and produce the cattle that will do that in an efficient manner. The bulls in this sale represent that very well.

Topping the sale was lot 71, JAR Waylon B733, an Aug. 2014 son of Baldridge Waylon W34 with EPDs of: CED 1, BW 3.3, WW 63, YW 110, Milk 25 that sold to Todd Rothleutner, Kilgore, Nebraska, for $12,000.

Lot 56, JAR B029, a Mar. 2014 son of Sitz Jauer 4561 sold to Bill Manning, Wood Lake, Nebraska, for $11,000. The bull has EPDs of: CED 5, BW 1.5, WW 59, YW 105, Milk 22.

Repeat buyers Corky and Janet Worth, Springview, Nebraska, purchased lot 17, JAR Roger B571 for $10,250. This July 2014 son of WK Roger 8165 has EPDs of CED 8 BW 2.3 WW 58 YW 105 Milk 29.

Lot 72, JAR Waylon B767 and lot 73, JAR Waylon B769 sold to Sunny Slope Ranch, Valentine, for $10,000 each. These Baldridge Waylon W34 sons had $B EPD values of $156.85 and $160.33 respectively.

Two other bulls sold at $10,000 each. Lot 2 JAR Tombstone B607 sired by Tombstone 050 sold to Green Mountain Angus Ranch, Ryegate, Mont. Lot 150 JAR Program B737 sired by Schiefelbein Program 841 went to Cottonwood & Pine, Valentine.

True to the dedication the Joseph Angus has to the beef industry, at the conclusion of the sale all buyers and those in attendance were invited to the Peppermill Steakhouse in Valentine for a steak dinner and hospitality. The Peppermill is owned and operated by the Joseph family.
