The Maher family of Morristown, South Dakota, hosted a packed crowd in their beautiful new sale barn. Their ranch is located on the southern border of North Dakota just 2.5 miles northeast of Morristown, South Dakota (east of Lemmon, South Dakota.) Visitors are welcome any time.
Dan and Gloria Maher and the Casey and Gina Maher family work hard each year on sale day, but it’s their work throughout the year that is evident when you arrive at the ranch. This outstanding set of bulls sold mainly to repeat buyers. The sale started out strong, and stayed that way through the whole sale, as every bull found a new home.
This was an extremely calm, docile set of bulls. You almost had to push them to move them out of the way in their pens. As a whole, they were deep bodied, with plenty of volume and extra capacity.
One of the featured sires at the Genex Cooperative, Inc., is the Maher Ranch home raised sire, MAR Innovation 251. Through him and his son, MAR Industrial, along with several other home raised sires, the Maher Ranch has advanced their cow herd to produce a top set of bulls for this year’s sale.
