McCumber Angus Ranch presented another fantastic set of powerful bulls to a totally packed house for their annual production sale on March 25, 2015. Chuck and Gail Tastad along with son and daughter in law Matt and Cynthia always present top quality Angus genetics for their sale.
The McCumber Angus herd is very well known for producing quality seed stock bulls and fantastic replacement females and this year was no exception. The bulls were thick and stout with excellent growth and calving ease. The open heifers were the top end of the replacements; it was not an easy decision for the Chuck and Matt to let this quality of heifers leave the place.
The sale facility at the ranch was again filled with a standing room only crowd of repeat and new buyers that came to purchase seedstock from this operation.
Toping the sale was lot 62, McCumber 235 Fortunate 4154, a Feb. 6, 2014 son of McCumber Fortunate 235. This calving ease herd sire prospect posted epds of CED 13 BW -1.6 WW 47 YW 95 Milk 22. The bull had a weaning weight of 701 lb. and yearling weight of 1260 lb. to ratio at 113 at a year. Redland Angus, Worland, Wyoming was the buyer at $36,000.
Selling at 29,000 to Koupal Angus, Dante, South Dakota was lot 1, McCumber Trademark 4230, a Feb. 14, 2014 son of McCumber Rito Rolette 1108. This bull had a 205-day wt. of 822 lb., ratio 117, 365 day wt. of 1425 lb. to ratio at 114 with epds of CED 3 BW 2.5 WW 52 YW 88 Milk 23.
Lot 3, McCumber Fortunate 4142, a Feb. 4, 2014 son of Sinclair Fortunate Son with a 113 205 day ratio, 119 yearling ratio and epds of CED -1 BW 2.8 WW 60 YW 109 Milk 24 sold to repeat buyer, Joe Bohl, Rugby, ND for $23,000.
Selling at $22,000 to Jay Olson, Grenora, ND was lot 2, McCumber Fortunate 4155. This Feb. 6, 2014 son of Sinclair Fortunate Son has epds of CED -1 BW 3.4 WW 58 YW 111 Milk 23 with a 205-day wt. of 777 lb. to radio 110 and 365-day wt. of 1499 lb. to ratio 117.
Repeat herd bull buyer, JR Ranch, Othello, WA purchased lot 5, at $20,000. McCumber 235 Fortunate 453, is a Jan. 25, 2014 son of McCumber Fortunate 235 that has epds of CED 10 BW -.1 WW 53 YW 95 Milk 23.
Also selling at $20,000 was lot 7, McCumber Fortunate 415, a Jan. 18, 2014 son of Sinclair Fortunate Son with epds of CED 1 BW 2.9 WW 46 YW 91 Milk 27. Ma & Pa Angus, Presho, South Dakota was the buyer.
Toping the registered heifers was lot 134, Miss Wix 430 of McCumber, a Jan. 22, 2014 daughter of McCumber Fortunate 213 with epds of CED 9 BW -.9 WW 52 YW 87 Milk 27 JR Ranch, Othello, WA was the buyer at $18,000.
Selling at $17,000 to Brian Frank, Joliet, MT was lot 159. This Jan. 30, 2014 daughter of McCumber Tremendous 2008 has epds of CED 7 BW .2 WW 51 YW 79 Milk 22. F
