Well it was another day at Bowman Auction Market in Bowman, ND for the Medicine Rocks Ranch Production Sale. The bulls in the offering were wintered at the Midland Bull Test and not pushed at a high rate of gain. They definitely won’t lose their figure when turned out to cover cows this summer. The Mehlings raise their cattle on two things: grass and milk; this really showed their performance showing up with depth and muscle on sale day. Buyers can appreciate the longevity and quality in the offering. The heifers were of fancy kind. Here is how the top end came out:
Lot 69, Med Rock American Cat 451, topped the day at $10,750 selling to Tom Teske of Scranton, ND. This WK Bobcat son was born March 21, 2014 weighing 85 pounds and weighed 825 pounds at his 205-day weight. His EPDs include BW 1.3, WW 57, YW 96, and Milk 27.
Lot 3, Med Rock Power Blaze 472, was a show stopping PA Power Tool 9108 son selling for $10,500 to Eric Keller of Scranton, N.D. He was born March 28, 2014, weighing 89 pounds and posted an 836 pounds 205 weight. His EPDs include BW 1.0, WW 57, YW 98, and Milk 41.
Lot 6, Med Rock Power Factor 437, another PA Power Tool 9108 son purchased by the Diamond S Ranch from Union Center, S.D., for $9,250. This bull was born March 20, 2014 at 85 pounds and squashed the scale at 801 pounds at 205 days. His EPDs are BW 2.7, WW 63, YW 110, and Milk 37.
Lot 73, Med Rock Hoover Paint 475, a stout Hoover Dam son heading to Hulett, Wyoming with Ballou Angus Ranch at $9,250. He put up some solid EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 54, YW 93, and Milk 23. He weighed 81 pounds at birth on 3/22/14 and was 790 pounds at his 205-day weight.
Lot 2, Med Rock Power Lead 488, sold for $9,000 to Ballou Angus Ranch of Hulett, Wyoming, he is also sired by PA Power Tool 9108. He posted EPDs of BW 1.1, WW 52, YW 93, and Milk 38. He was born weighing 79 pounds on 3/27/14 and was 745 pounds at 205 days.
