There was joyful mood in the yards at Bowman Auction Market for the Medicine Rocks Angus Ranch Production Sale. The wet weather conditions didn't fail to show up sale day and neither did floods of customers. Repeat buyers were in high volume and were able to take home some really good bulls for the money. The Medicine Rocks Angus cattle were raised with no extra groceries as calves followed with a very moderate rate of gain at the Midland Bull Test. These bulls will, without a doubt, hit the pasture to breed cows and not lose an ounce of condition. The Mehlings have always done an excellent job of using reputation sires that will pack so much length and depth you can barely fit 'em in the trailer, and in a good way. The docile disposition matches the sure soundness of these bulls. We began the day in a patriotic way, as Colonel Joe Goggins fired us up in rapid fashion. Here's the very top:
Lot 28, Med Rock Rock'n CC 552, topped the chart at $8,000 purchased by Alkali Inc. of Ekalaka, Montana. He's sired by Larsen Confidence 220N and was born April 6, 2015, at 74 pounds and was 1,441 pounds as a yearling. His EPDs are BW -0.4, WW 57, YW 103, and Milk 28.
Sodak Angus of Reva, South Dakota, made quick work buying Lot 1, Med Rock Nino Weight 545, for $7,500. He's a Basin Payweight 1682 son that posted EPDs of BW 0.4, WW 53, YW 90, and Milk 23. He was born March 21, 2015 at 89 pounds and was 1,359 pounds as a yearling.
Also selling for $7,500 was Lot 17, Med Rock Power Spike 513, to Diamond S Ranch of Union Center, South Dakota. This PA Power Tool 9108 son is as long as a freight train that has EPDs of BW 3.6, WW 63, YW 115, and Milk 33. He was born March 23, 2015 at 95 pounds and was a whopping 1,394 pounds as yearling.
Lot 20, Med Rock Power Blaze 504, sold for $6,500 to Jeremy Schallenberger of Baker, Montana. He is a PA Power Tool 9108 son with EPDs of BW 1.4, WW 54, YW 97, and Milk 30. He was born March 19, 2015 at 92 pounds and was 1,257 pounds as a yearling.
Eric Kelner of Bowman, North Dakota, purchased Lot 4, Med Rock Paymaker 523, for $6,250. He was born March 16, 2015 at 79 pounds and was 1,239 pounds as a yearling. He's sired by Basin Payweight 1682 and has EPDs of BW 0, WW 57, YW 101, and Milk 25.
