Red Rock Cattle Company, owned by Calvin and Glorius Heitzman from Spencer, South Dakota, along with their son, Kim and his wife, Kris, hosted a nice crowd for their first full production sale held at Faith Livestock.

Last year they had brought a smaller sampling, and, since they were well received, this year they brought their entire crop of big, strong two-year-old bulls. These bulls were thick made and long, with a lot of muscle. They were quickly swept up at this auction.

Red Rock Cattle Company has been in the Angus business for over 40 years. They select their females for disposition, structural soundness, fertility, and maternal traits. Complete EPDs and carcass data through the Zoetis 50K DNA test were listed for each of the bulls.

Top selling bull of the day was Lot 23, selling for $9,500 to Doug and Cheryl Hohenberger, Newell, South Dakota. He was RRCC Timeless 3257, a son of WMR Timeless 458 and out of a daughter of McCumber 2938 Equator 577. He had a scrotal measurement of 42 cm., and a weaning weight of 825 pounds. His EPDs were CED 4.7, BW 0.2, WW 51, YW 69, MILK 24, RE 0.21, and MS (Marbling Score) 0.16.

Howard Ingalls and Sons topped their purchases with Lot 20 at $7,500. This son of Red Rock Focus 7250 was out of a daughter of Stassens New Design 532. Born at 98 pounds, he weaned at 862 pounds and had a yearling weight of 1280 pounds. He had a 40 cm. scrotal.

Lot 15, RRCC Timeless 3238, sold for $7,000 to Todd Volmer, Winner, South Dakota He was a son of WMR Timeless 458 and out of a daughter of Sydgen Diamond 8499. His EPDs were CED 8.1, BW -0.1, WW 67, YW 113, MILK 29, RE 0.35, and MS 0.44. With a birth weight of 84 pounds, he weaned at 852 pounds and posted a yearling weight of 1405 pounds to go with a 41 cm. scrotal.

Ingalls and Sons also bought Lot 18 at $7,000. This son of RRCC Rocky CC&7 8K1 was out of the purebred Angus cow, 929. His Zoetis 50K DNA EPDs were BW 1.8, WW 61, YW 111, MILK 30, RE 0.54, and MS 0.50.

Ramon Birkeland, Dupree, South Dakota, chose Lot 8 at $5,500. He was a son of WMR Timeless 458 and out of a purebred cow. Born at 98 pounds he weaned at 925 pounds.

Lot 16 sold to Ingalls and Sons for $ 5500. Born at 82 pounds, he was a son of RRCC Rocky CC&7 8K1, and had a 41 cm. scrotal measurement.

A son of Mogck Sure Shot 100 was born at 86 pounds and weaned at 740 pounds. This Lot 13 bull was swept up by Ingalls and Sons for $5,500. He had a 40 cm. scrotal.

The Ingalls Ranch also chose Lot 19, a son of Red Rock Focus 7250. At a birth weight of 98 pounds, he was out of a daughter of Stassen's Precision Lad. He weaned at 832 pounds and measured a 43 cm. scrotal.
