What an absolute beautiful day in Hyshem, Montana. The "Better Bred Red" barn hosted a large crowd for the Redland Red Angus & Gelbvieh sale March 7, 2015. The bulls offered were the very best out of the herd. I like the Redland operation philosophy – when steer prices are high they sell more of them, making the bull offering the cream of the crop. The Champ and Colonel Kyle Strobe ran a nice brisk sale keeping it lively ringside with a packed house that came to buy bulls. Everybody at the Redland Red Angus outfit is very hospitable and strives to help their customers in anyway. Here is the top end of a very good sale:

Topping the sale was Lot 5, Red Howey 400, at $12,500. This Bieber Makin Hay 9913 son is headed to Wheatland, Wyoming, with K2 Red Angus. Born Jan. 25, 2014, weighing 80 pounds and had a 205 weight of 676 pounds. His EPDs are BW -2.1, WW 57, YW 90, and Milk 26.

Crown Enterprises of Broadview, Montana, bought Lot 21, Red Conquest 454, for $12,000. This HXC Conquest 4405P son has EPDs BW -1.5, WW 53, YW 83, and Milk 19. He was born Jan. 26, 2014, weighing in at 84 pounds and was 688 pounds at his 205 wt.

Keeping up the pace at $12,000 Lot 13, Red Bomber 417, son of Red Blast Off 8534 5, sold to Broken Chain Ranch of Samatra, Montana. This was one of many good bulls purchased by the Broken Chain Ranch; his EPDs are BW 1.6, WW 62, YW 94, and Milk 22. He was born Jan. 30, 2014, weighing 93 pounds and had a whopping 205 weight of 726 pounds.

Lot 50, Red Expedition 4051, sold to the Spear J Ranch of Jordan, Montana, for $11,500. I had all sorts of marks on this calving ease bull especially his EPDs, which include BW 0.0, WW 73, YW 116, and Milk 14. He was born Feb. 23, 2014, weighing 84 pounds and had a 205 weight of 737 pounds.

Selling for $11,000 Lot 17, Red Explorer 441, a MLK CRK Epic 0190 son, heading to Circle, Montana, with Flint Hance. This good bull going back to the Beckton Epic line had EPDs include BW 0.5, WW 62, YW 102, and Milk 22; while he was born Feb. 3, 2014, weighing 90 pounds and had a 691 pound 205 weight.
