WEBO Angus held their 9th Annual production sale at the ranch on Apr. 5 near Lusk, WY. There was a huge, standing room only crowd of buyers that came out to support this operation on an extremely windy spring day.

The WEBO in WEBO Angus stands for Waldon, Elly, Buttons and Odessa York. With the passing of Waldon last fall, Buttons and the family are dedicated to keeping the ranch going by following the “Old Cowboy Rule,” to put as much milk and performance in their cattle as your environment will let you have in your cowherd.

With Waldon’s illness and passing last fall, the cattle operation was somewhat put on hold and family needs came first. That being said, it is evident that these cattle can make it on momma’s milk and the good native grasses of Wyoming. I was impressed with the thickness and fleshing ability these bulls had. That and the calm dispositions, calving ease and performance will keep buyers coming back to WEBO Angus for years to come.

Two bulls topped the sale at $9,500 each. Lot 545, WEBO Granite 545, a Feb. 2015 son of Hilltop Granite 3215 with epds of CED 3 BW 2.7 WW 56 YW 99 Milk 29. This bull had a weaning ratio of 103 and IMF ratio of 107. Moen Ranch, Britt and Sandy Moen, Lusk, WY was the buyer.

Lot 5100, WEBO Traction 5109, a Mar. 2015 son of JMB Traction 292 with epds of CED 4 BW 2.2 WW 57 YW 104 Milk 26 $B 165.98 sold to Garrett Faulkenberg, Douglas, WY.

Moen Ranch struck again on lot 5105, WEBO Traction 5105, a Mar. 2015 son of JMB Traction 292 that has epds of CED 1 BW 3.1 WW 59 YW 102 Milk 32. This bull had an IMF of 107 and rib eye ratio of 121, selling at $8,500.

Lot 529, WEBO Payweight 529, a Feb. 2015 son of Basin Payweight 1682 with epds of CED 10 BW -.4 WW 62 YW 106 Milk 27 $B 140.62. Diane Hall, Lost Springs, WY was the buyer at $8,000.

Lot 589, WEBO Granite 589, a Mar. 2015 son of Hilltop Granite with epds of CED 5 BW 2.0 WW 49 YW 92 Milk 26 sold to Garrett Faulkenberg for $7,500.

Manning Ranch brought four nice geldings to the sale. The high seller was lot 1, Lowrys Good Brother, a black 2008 son of Lowrys Last Star selling to Butch White, Lusk, WY for $7,000.
