Warm weather greeted an absolutely packed house of customers and friends for the annual Sandage Angus bull sale Saturday night. The sale begins at 5 pm, and they must have gathered everybody from four counties.

Gary and Diane Sandage work hard all year long on customer satisfaction. The bulls are guaranteed for the first breeding season. Gary will take the bulls back to his ranch, brand and feed them at no cost, and then deliver them on the date of your choice, prior to May 1st. These bulls were really well-grown, and had excellent numbers to prove themselves.
This was the biggest crowd I have ever seen in the Rushville Sale Barn. The sale was active from the start, but it really got competitive toward the end as there were only 40 bulls for this big crowd.
Top selling bull of the day was Lot 43, selling for $20,000 to Mangen Angus Ranch, Broadus, Mont. Here was a son of Koupals B & B Identity who was out of a dam by HF Tiger 5T. Born at 81 pounds, he weaned at 788 pounds Weighing in at 1195 pounds on sale day, he measured a 39 cm. scrotal. He posted EPDs of BW 2.4, WW 61, MILK 28, and YW 112.
The Dunn Ranch, Harrison, Nebr., chose Lot 421 at $13,000. This son of WK Tiger 1336 was out of a daughter of Baldridge Ratchet R47. Born at 84 pounds, he weaned at 793 pounds before reaching 1,240 pounds on sale day. His EPDs were BW 2.3, WW 56, MILK 28, and YW 99.
At $13,000 and $12,500, Lots 417 and 418 were headed to the Forney Ranch, Lakeside, Nebr. Both bulls were sons of WK Tiger 1336. Lot 417 had an 82 pound birth weight and an 830 pounds weaning weight. Lot 418 was born at 78 pounds, and weaned at 796 pounds His EPDs were BW 0.4, WW 60, MILK 26, and YW 102.
Malcolm Nielsen and Larry Leisy from Ellsworth, Nebr., paid $12,500 to own Lot 422. Another son of WK Tiger 1336, he was out of a daughter of Salt Creek Bob 7003. With a 90 pound birth weight, he weaned at 867 pounds His EPDs were BW 2.9, WW 61, MILK 31, and YW 101.
Lonnie Franssen, Amelia, Nebr., topped his purchases with Lot 47 at $12,000. He was a son of EXAR Grit 1025B and out of a Baldridge Ratchet daughter. Born at 84 pounds, he weaned at 768 pounds
Lot 411 at $12,000 was another purchase by the Forney Ranch. Here was a son of MAR Payweight 0585 who was out of a daughter of Vermilion Dateline 7078. Born at 90 pounds, he weaned at 752 pounds
It was a special day for this family, but you really have to come to this sale and try some of these cookies, let alone the hamburgers!
