2010 Daughters of the Big Sky sale results

An overflow crowd filled the ringside stands and dining area in the sale barn at KG Ranch in Three Forks, MT, for the Daughters of Big Sky female sale that was held after the 2010 National Angus Conference and Tour.

A total of 15 highly regarded ranches from Montana offered outstanding purebred females that went to many of the 33 states were represented in the recording breaking three-day tour in Southwestern Montana.

The top selling bred cow was Lot 2, Hyline Pride 558, consigned by Hyline Angus of Bozeman. She sold to Ankony Angus, Clarksville, GA, for $15,500. The five-year-old was sired by N Bar Emulation Ext and out of Hyline Pride 870. She is one of only two maternal sisters still in existence to Pride 265, the dam of the popular performance sire Hyline Right Time 338.

Sitz Henrietta Pride 1370, Lot 1, a 10-year-old cow sold consigned by Sitz Angus of Harrison, MT, sold for $8,750 to J & J Farms of Pennsylvania. She was sired by OCC Great Plains 943G and out of Sitz Henrietta Pride 2155, a daughter of Cornhusker 6662.

Another Sitz sale offering, Lot 3, Sitz Pride 2561, sold to Rafter U Cross Angus of Quinn, SD, for $8,500. The nine-year-old was sired by DHD Traveler 6807 and out of Sitz Pride 2188.

Lot 6, Sitz Blackbird 1900, was consigned by Sitz Angus sold to Dana Dargatz of South Dakota for $4,500. The 10-year-old was sired by Great Plains 943G and out of Sitz Blackbird 3808.

The top selling open heifer, Lot 34, was WMR Blackcap 010 consigned by Wheeler Mountain Angus of Whitehall, MT, finding a new home at Hershey Ranch in Bison, SD, for $3,600. The Jan. 17, 2010-calf was sired by WMR Timeless 458 and out of WMR Blackcap 860. She is a top daughter of the $32,000 valued high growth sire Timeless 458 what was recently leased to Accelerated Genetics.

WMR Pride 949, Lot 19, was the top selling bred heifer, consigned by Wheeler Mountain Ranch to McKeen Brothers of Mercer, PA, for $5,000. The January 31, 2009-heifer was sired by SRA 2418 of RR 30 3 and out of WMR Pride 045.

Circle L Angus and Green Mountain Angus sold Lot 8, an Altune Heifer Pregnancy, to Canyon Creek Ranch of Wyoming for $4,00. The donor sire is SAV Final Answer 0035 and the dam is JVC Altune of Conanga 803.
