2011 Miss Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo Queen competition Jan. 28-29

There young ladies are set to compete at the 2011 Miss Black Hills Stock Show Rodeo queen competition: Krystal Carlascio; Courtney Peterson; and Trisha Smeenk. Reigning 2010 Miss Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo Queen is Teri Jo Weidner. The competition gets underway in Rapid City, SD, Jan. 28 with a coronation Jan. 29 prior to the afternoon PRCA rodeo performance.

Contestants will be judged on personal interviews, media interviews, horsemanship, prepared and impromptu speeches, modeling and photogenic. According to Kate Moen, organizer of the competition, the Stock Show contest is usually a stepping stone for competing for the state queen title and further the title of Miss Rodeo America. Friday, Jan. 28: 4:30 p.m., Horsemanship, Pennington County Event Center/Fairgrounds



Saturday, Jan. 29:

• 8:30 a.m., Style Show, including prepared and impromptu speeches and modeling at The Journey Museum Theatre



• 1:10 p.m., Coronation, prior to the PRCA rodeo performance at the Civic Center Arena
