2011 Montana Women’s Finals awards $20,000 to barrel racing competitors

Copper Spring Ranch presented the 4th Annual Montana Women’s Finals at the beautiful Cottonwood Equestrian Center in Silesia, MT the weekend of Oct. 22-23.

With $20,000 in payoffs, great ground, and entrants from Canada, Texas, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana, the Montana Women’s Finals was a smashing success. Women barrel racers, along with breakaway and team ropers, were spotlighted by Ross Wagner of the UBRC as each entrant entered the arena for some tough competition.

Current Montana Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) Circuit Director Tannis Kobold and past Montana Circuit Champion Lindsay Karp made a haul, each winning $1,196 and $1,121, respectively, during the weekend.



The Copper Spring Ranch event was enhanced by gift bags from Sam’s Club and Wrangler buy-one, get-one free gift certificates for all contestants. Classic Equine, Wrangler and NutraLix awarded wonderful prizes during the weekend also. Plains Horizon Equine Insurance sponsored the breakaway roping each day along with a Dally’O vest to the overall event winner Bailee Stovall, Ingram Quarter Horses, sponsored the $250 added each day in the team roping where Norma and Anna Haaland along with Judy Wagner took away a piece of the pie. Causeway Chalet Bar and Grill (Jon and Jody Hoovestal) sponsored the WPRA Permit Only Sidepot over the weekend. Saturday’s winner was Becky Fusion and Sunday’s winner was Kim Kraus-Wermiling.

Tannis Kobold was the WPRA Stand-alone winner on Saturday. A special thanks to all of the event sponsors, including Rick and Leslee Green.
