2012 Miller Angus Farms Annual Bull Sale
Miller Angus Farms, Donnie and Georgia Miller and family, held their annual bull sale at Bales CCC in Huron, SD on April 21.
Miller Angus Farms is a fifth generation family operation that has been in the Angus business for nearly 90 years. Their goal is to produce cattle that will calve easy, milk and perform in all facets of the beef industry. Miller Angus not only believes their cattle will perform in the feedyard, they back up that claim by purchasing many of their bull buying customers feeder calves to feed out. Throughout the years these cattle have performed excellent in the feedyard and consistently have a high percentage that qualify the for Certified Angus Beef program.
This was a fantastic sale for the Miller Family. There were several new faces in the crowd along with many repeat buyers in the seats to give them the best sale they have had to date.
Topping the sale was Lot 81, Millers In Focus E359, a March 2011 son of Connealy In Focus 4925. This bull posted fantastic performance with a weaning weight of 808 pounds to ratio 117, yearling weight of 1,336 pounds to ratio at 111 and EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 69, Milk 30 and YW 117. Larry VanOverschelde, Letcher, SD, was the buyer at $8,000.

Also selling at $8,000 was another son of the Miller herd sire, Connealy In Focus 4925. Lot 106, Millers In Focus E474, was born March 2011 and had a weaning weight of 746 pounds to ratio 108, yearling weight of 1,328 pounds to ratio 110 and EPDs of BW 3.0, WW 59, Milk 27 and YW 100. Bar J Ranch, Brooten, MN, was the buyer.
Bar J Ranch also selected Lot 31, Millers Bismarck E141, a March 2011 son of SAV Bismarck 5682. This bull is out of a very productive Bullseye-bred dam that has weaned seven calves that ratioed 103. The bull has EPDs of BW 1.3, WW 50, Milk 26 and YW 90.
Mike Will, Delmont, SD, purchased Lot 66, Millers Upward E303, a March 2011 son of Sitz Upward 307R with EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 63, Milk 33 and YW 110 for $6,000. Will also selected Lot 47, Millers In Focus E220, a March 2011 son of Connealy In Focus with EPDs of BW 2.1, WW 69, Milk 31 and YW 106 for $5,750.
Lot 92, Millers Charge On E422, an April 2011 son of Sydgen Charge On 6150 with EPDs of BW 5.5, WW 25, Milk 25 and YW 94, sold to Tom Schultz, Tulare, SD, for $5,750.
Selling at $5,500 was Lot 53, Millers In Focus E251, a March 2011 son of Connealy In Focus with EPDs of BW 3.1, WW 61, Milk 25 and YW 109 to Paul Brandt, Clear Lake, SD.
Waring Ranch, Ree Heights, SD, got Lot 10, Millers Pendelton E37, a March 2011 son of HARB Pendelton 765 JH for $5,400. This bull has EPDs of BW 0.5, WW 64, Milk 34 and YW 111.
