2014 NILE Weanling/Yearling Horse Sale Results

An attractive offering of young horses coupled with beautiful weather and a robust crowd resulted in one of the strongest NILE Gold Buckle Weanling-Yearling Horse Sales in recent years.

Doug Torgerson of Billings, Montana consigned the high selling yearling, hip #302, of this year’s sale. With pedigree going back to Smooth Town and Powder River Playboy, this gelding has ability to show, ranch or rodeo. This sorrel gelding with eye appeal and balance was purchased by Juanita Kingan of Whitefish, Montana for $4,100.

The second high selling yearling was consigned by Barbara Campbell of Bozeman, Montana. A big, pretty bay gelding with size to match, hip #322 sold for $3,900. With a pedigree of speed horses such as Sun Frost and Continental Fly, this big boned yearling should grow into a big performance horse for ranch work or rodeo. Bow & Arrow Ranch Inc, Pat Creswell of Sheridan, Wyoming purchased this gelding.

Hip #342 was a head turner, consigned by Alane Stabler of Miles City, Montana. This black yearling gelding brought $2,800. Sired by Signature Perks, this colt has speed and a good mind with pedigree from Marilyn Fortune’s breeding program. Ttri Fortune of Perks was purchased by CT Ripley of Huntley, Montana.

Will & Vicky Crofutt of Miles City, Montana topped the weanling sale with their palomino stud colt bringing $3,800. This fancy colt was lot #357 and is out of Guys Piece of The Pie with his dam being a daughter of Drifts Chip. A definite futurity contender, this colt was purchased by Smoken Quarter Horses, Don Noyes of Milford, UT.

The second high selling weanling was lot 379, Playguns Hot Shot. A weanling stud colt consigned by LaVonne Westland of Brockway, Montana, he is out of Plastic Playgun who is a grandson of Freckles Playboy. This bay horse has disposition and the genetics to ride exceptionally well. The Uphaus Ranch, Josey Uphaus of Glasgow, Montana purchased this futurity prospect colt for $3,000.

Jim and Jodie Pedersen of Riverton, Wyoming consigned lot #382, a weanling filly. JP Champagne For Me boasts a gorgeous amber bay champagne color and sold for sold for $2,800. Randi Klind of Glasgow, Montana purchased this filly that has show potential and is very eye-catching.

All of the weanling and yearling horses sold through this sale are eligible to come back and show in the NILE futurities in 2015. NILE currently offers six futurities, Yearling, Snafflebit Two-Year-Old, Three-Year-Old, Four-Year-Old, Five-Year-Old and a Barrel Futurity sponsored by Midnight Corona. This year NILE paid out over $16,000 in the futurities.
