21 Angus Ranch 2012 Top Cut Bull Sale

The Wolf family, Marc and Anne, Archie and Diane, hosted a standing-room-only crowd of buyers at their heated sale facility for their annual Top Cut bull sale. There have been very noticeable improvements to the quality and uniformity of this sale offering in the three years that I’ve attended this sale. The bulls were moderate framed, long bodied and full of meat and muscle.
This sale offered plenty of calving ease with performance and eye appeal. There were many half- and three-quarter brothers in the sale, allowing the buyer to put together a consistent set of bulls that will sire uniform calves full of red meat.
Topping the sale was Lot 1, 21 AR Bakken 1083A, a Feb. 15, 2011 son of LT Bandwagon 3105. This bull had tremendous performance with a weaning ratio of 137, 365-day weight of 1,341 pounds and a 38-cm scrotal circumference. He posted EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 66, YW 105 and Milk 31 – all out of a first calf heifer. E Bar D Ranch, Noonan, ND, was the buyer at $9,750.
Selling at $9,000 was Lot 23, 21 AR Denali 1007, a Feb. 3, 2011 son of HARB Denali 788 JH. This powerhouse calving ease prospect posted EPDs of BW -1.6, WW 61, YW 94 and Milk 35 with a weaning ratio of 124 and 205-day weight of 795 pounds. Clyde Kraenzel, Hebron, ND, was the buyer.
Lot 26, 21 AR Pendleton 1426, a March 6, 2011 son of HARB Pendleton 7047, sold to Lazy 77 Ranch Manning, ND, for $8,000. Another calving ease specialist, this bull had EPDs of BW 0.0, WW 55, YW 89 and Milk 33. This bull is out of a very productive Sitz Rainmaker female that has a weaning ratio of 123 on three calves.
Lot 35 also sold for $8,000 to repeat buyer Joe Giannonatti, Ludlow, SD. 21 AR Denali 1028 is a Feb. 7, 2011 son of HARB Denali 788 JH with EPDs of BW 1.6, WW 62, YW 95 and Milk 32. This bull posted a 205-day weight of 775 pounds with a weaning ratio of 121.
