35th annual Hettinger ram sale
The 35th Annual Hettinger Ram Sale, sponsored by the North Dakota Lamb & Wool Producers Association (NDLWPA), will be held at 1 p.m. (MDT) Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010 at the Adams County Fair Barn in Hettinger, ND. When the gavel falls, selling will commence on 99 head of NDLWPA-member’s finest ram lambs and yearling rams. The breeds represented in this year’s sale are Targhee, Rambouillet, Suffolk, Hampshire, Columbia, Polypay, Dorset and Montadale.
“With the high spring lamb prices, ram breeders saved only their top rams,” said Mark Sheppard sale coordinator, “Thus the number of rams offered is down this year. But the quality should be higher than ever.”
Viewing of the consignments begins at 9 a.m. with a complimentary lamb sandwich lunch served at noon. Association members will receive a 1 percent discount on their purchases and health papers will be provided to all out-of-state buyers. Bidders from the last three years will receive a catalog by mail. All other interested buyers can request a catalog from Sheppard at 701-375-6971.
