Top 5 weanlings average- $3,060

Buyers filled the auction barn in Faith, S.D., to the rafters and phone bidders participated from as far away as Florida as Lynn Weishaar auctioneered and pedigree man John E. Johnson kept the crowd informed.

Bob and Karen Meyer of Glad Valley S.D., Denny and Doris Lauing (Lauing Mill Iron L Ranch) of Sturgis S.D. and Lee Lopez of Meadow S.D. Guest consigners included Bob and Jan Quickstad of Whitewood S.D., Arlen Hulm, Arlie and Skyler Hulm of Faith S.D., and Archie Hulm of Timber Lake S.D., brought 85 head of weanlings, yearlings, broke horses and bred mares to town.

The top 5 weanlings averaged $3,060. Kylee Habeck of Aberdeen was the successful bidder at $3,400 on the high selling stud colt – Lot 51 (Colonel Frenchman X Kip E Chrome) offered by Denny and Doris Lauing. Lot 29 Perty Northern Fox, a dun stud colt (SNW Northern Frost X Frosts Dun Polly) of Bob and Karen Meyer’s program followed closely at $3,300 going to John Hoven a repeat buyer of Little Eagle S.D.

Guest Consigners, Bob and Jan Quickstad brought some nice weanlings to the sale. Lot 77, Bet On Jess (Jess Vegas X Mighty Shy Ann) brought $2,800 and will make a new home in Wheatland Wyo.

The Lauings’ high selling yearling, Dash For Frenchman (Colonel Frenchman X Diamond’s Teardrop) and the high selling bred mare, DL Miss Illuminator (Fenchmans Hickory X Watch Playboy Girl) bred to Colonel Frenchman for a 2015 foal were popular with the crowd. The Meyers offered several nice bred mares with their top seller lot 40, Peptos Pretty Oak (Peptos Stylish Oak X Another Pretty Pep) in foal to Young Rio Gunner for 2015 and a 2001 mare Realruggedsanpeppy (Rugged Lark X Marquita De Peppy) with foal at side.

The high selling broke horse was offered by consigner Archie Hulm. Lot 81 Playguns Brick, a 2011 Gray Gelding topped the register at $7,250. Lot 84 Mr Sawyer Wood sold by Arlen Hulm was the second high seller at $6,750. Lot 71, a 2009 Gray Gelding (Lil Easy Feature X Comos Jazzy Freckles) of the Lauings’ sold for $5,600. Consigner Arlie and Skyler Hulm sold Kabris Magic Dancer, a 2004 Bay Gelding for $5,400.
