4th Annual JC Heiken & Sons Bull Sale

Andy Swenson

With a little break in the cold, the sun came out for the JC Heiken & Sons bull sale held in Miles City, MT, making for a hot sale. The stands were full to capacity with some attendees standing on the top row. Buyers came from miles around to view this complete set of bulls and take home some very fine yearlings. These yearling bulls are sons of some of the top maternal cow herds in the region – daughters of Right Time, New Design 878, Sitz Alliance and Coneally Lead On, to just name a few. The bulls were in great body condition and ready to go to work.

The bulls were on display in pens by sire groups, which made it easy for people to view the sires they represent. I will have to say that the entire Heiken family – Joe and Jeralee, John and his wife, Kendra, and Brian and his wife, Janna, and Ben and his wife, Lynsey – did a great job developing their bulls and were very helpful, answering any questions regarding their bulls. The Heikens were a very hospitable, gracious family who have really developed an efficient cowherd that produces an outstanding set of bulls. Great job to the crew at Miles City Livestock Commission, as well. I look forward to being there next year!
