Show Chairman Ray and Dallerie Riesland and Show Chairman, Paul Erk welcomed consignors from 10 states that hauled rams and ewes to the 67th Annual Newell Ram Show & Sale held in Newell, SD, on Sept. 20-21, 2012. The Newell Ram Show & Sale is one of the premier events in the region for buyers to acquire top quality stud rams, range rams and replacement ewes.
Even with the depressed sheep market there was excellent demand for top quality stock, with very active bidding throughout the day.
The Supreme Champion Ram for the event was the Rambouillet, consigned by, Chapman Rambouillet’s, Bison, SD, selling to Veit Rambouillet’s, Isabell, SD.
Reserve Supreme Champion Ram was the Hampshire ram consigned by Jerry Quam, Wanamingo, MN, selling to Robert Christensen, Gillette, WY.
Supreme Champion Ewe was a Rambouillet consigned by Anderson Family Ranch of Highmore, SD, selling to John Bode of Orient, SD.
Reserve Supreme Champion Ewe was a Columbia ewe consigned by Steinmetz Columbia’s, Hot Springs, SD, selling to Jaycie Arndt, Arvada, WY.
The Premiere Pen of Range Rams were Rambouillet rams consigned by Chapman Rambouillet’s, Bison, SD, and sold to Wade Kopren, Bison, SD.
There were 113 registered buyers from South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, and Washington.

This was the second year of the Boer Goat show and sale. The Champion Boer Buck was and entry from Sue Noll, Bowman, ND, and the Reserve Champion was shown by Kem Ellis, Piedmont, SD.
Both the Champion and reserve Champion Boer Doe were entries from Tom Barnes, Custer, SD.
