9th Annual Western Wyoming Select Gelding Sale

The 9th Annual Western Wyoming Select Gelding Sale was held on June 11, 2011 at the Sublette Co. Fairgrounds Indoor Arena in Big Piney, WY. It was a beautiful weekend with a very big crowd of people registering from 12 different states.
There were 55 geldings offered that ranged from riding and ranch horses to trail and started rodeo horses. The consignors bring an outstanding set of horses every year to this sale.
The top-selling horse was Lot 32, Pep Up Barts Badger, a 9-year-old red roan that was shown heading and heeling. He was gentle and broke for all ages. He was consigned by Jason Wheeldon, Jackson, WY, and sold to EA Ranch of Dubois, WY, for $13,500.
The second high-selling horse was Lot 25, Mac, a grade 9-year-old buckskin. This was a family horse and had been on a ranch his whole life. He brought $11,000, and was consigned by Diamond X Ranch of Shoshoni, WY, and was purchased by Marilyn Kite, Jackson, WY.
Lot 31, RKS Blue Tonto Bars, a 12-year-old blue roan, sold for $10,250. He was consigned by Nick Nichols, Boulder, WY, and sold to Kathleen Svilar from Riverton, WY.
Lot 23, RK Pocos Blue Doc, a 5-year-old blue roan from Kevin Campbell, Bondurant, WY, sold to Ray Myers, Gardnerville, NV, for $8,900.

Lot 24, Willy Be Winken, a 7-year-old bay from Colby and Cody Gines of Powell, WY, sold to Terry Jacobs, Kemmerer, WY, for $6,750.
Lot 41, Hub, a grade 9-year-old chestnut consigned by Vermillion Ranch from Rock Springs, WY, was bought by Jessie Brown from Daniel, WY, for $6,500.
Lot 44, Jag, a grade 9-year-old palomino from Jerry Cobb of Weiser, ID, sold to Scott Lanchner from Daniel, WY, for $6,000.
Lot 42, Spud, a grade 11-year-old buckskin from D&D Livestock of Riverton, WY, sold to Dan Arnold of Rock Springs, WY, for $5,750.
Lot 29, BA Bucks In Bank, a 6-year-old buckskin from Phil Selby, Springville, CA, sold to Albert Sommers from Pinedale, WY, for $5,500.
Lot 15, Windriver Peppy, a 16-year-old bay from Rives White of Laramie, WY, sold to Lorraina Zwetzig from Douglas, WY, for $5,250.
The top five horses averaged $10,080, while the overall sale average was $4,410. A top set of horses were offered and there was a well-run preview the morning of the sale.
