Despite the rain that drizzled down the dirt aisles at Dakotafest, it was standing room only in the First National Bank South Dakota Pavillion for the Agriculture Issues Panel featuring Senator John Thune (R-SD), Representative Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin (D-SD), South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Bill Even and Craig Schaunaman, State Director of the Farm Service Agency.

It seemed the entire agriculture community was ready for a congressional update and the focus quickly focused in on two important topics – climate change legislation and health care reform. While only an hour was set on the agenda for the debate, it quickly turned into two hours as the South Dakota delegation discussed these hot topics.
