Mike Davelaar has a passion for agriculture. He lives and works in Yankton, SD where he promotes Quality Liquid Feeds, a family corporation with 30 years of experience in liquid feed manufacturing and marketing. Like so many in agriculture, he is dedicated to his career, and he firmly believes that livestock producers do what’s best to care for their land and their animals. Yet, Davelaar realized something in May of 2009 when his views were questioned, and he had to stand up for what he believed in.

Davelaar is a volunteer for Dawson McAllister Ministries on Sunday nights. McAllister is a recognizable presence in talk radio, where he councils young people through difficult scenarios. Each week, Davelaar speaks to at-risk teenagers from all over the country. That’s where he met Megan, a Pennsyvlania blogger, Dawson McAllister fan and vocal vegan.
