Anderson wins You-Fit-It Contest

HURON, SD – Staci Anderson of Parkston, SD was named the Grand Champion You-Fit-It Showman at the 2008 South Dakota State Fair in Huron. Anderson won the coveted title after first competing and winning the showmanship title for the Maine-Anjou breed. Two participants from each breed association, FFA and 4-H are selected to compete in the contest with a total of 24 finalists vying for the prestigious title.
The You-Fit-It is a cattle fitting and showmanship contest that was started in 1978. Contestants who participate in the contest have 30 minutes to fit their animal before moving on to the showmanship portion of the contest.
Anderson won a belt buckle from Hubbard Milling of Watertown, SD, a fitting chute from Sullivan Supply Company, Dunlap, IA and scholarship from the Richard Sawyer Family of Howard, SD. Anderson is the daughter of Dusty Anderson of Parkston.
Judging this year’s event was Kent Habeger, Burt, IA and Quin Peterson, a past winner from Miami, OK.
