Barstow Angus Ranch held their 23rd Annual Rock Solid Bull sale at the ranch west of Springview, Neb. on Mar. 10, 2014. A beautiful spring-like day greeted the overflow crowd of buyers that came to bid on and purchase this powerful set of yearling bulls.
These bulls are developed with the rancher in mind. They were in good condition, but not overdone. They are fed in large hillside lots allowing for plenty of exercise and soundness. A special feature on the day was a large selection of Barstow Cash sons. Barstow Cash was bred and by Barstow Angus and sold through this ring two years ago. This was the first crop of Cash sons to sell and they were a definite highlight of the sale.
Hall Ranch, Bassett, Neb. selected the top-selling bull of the day. Lot 1, Barstow Cash A24, is a 1/26/13 son of Barstow Cash with EPDs of BW 0.6 WW 68 YW 126 Milk 30. This powerful performance calving ease herd sire prospect sold at $28,000.
Selling at $16,500 to DeMers Ranch, Colome, S.D. was lot 14, Barstow Cash A118, a Barstow Cash son born 2/18/13 with EPDs of BW 2.1 WW 57 YW 101 Milk 24.
Cedar Top Ranch, Stapleton, Neb. selected the next top-selling bull at $15,500. Lot 8, Barstow Cash A58 is another Cash son born 2/4/13 with EPDs of BW 0.1 WW 62 YW 108 Milk 25.
Lot 29, Barstow Consensus A131, a 2/26/13 son of Connealy Consensus with EPDs of BW 2.3 WW 62 YW 102 Milk 30 sold to Bert Straka, Stewart, Neb. for $11,250.
Leon Wichman, Stuart, N.E. got lot 53 at $10,000. Barstow Final Product A105, is a 2/12/13 son of Connealy Final Product with EPDs of BW 2.2 WW 60 YW 110 Milk 31.
