April 17, 2015
The North Dakota Stockmen's Association (NDSA) named Steven Bay of Carson, N.D., its new west river fieldman. Bay will coordinate brand inspection in the western half of the state while working with local inspectors, law enforcement and producers to investigate brand issues.
Bay worked for 32 years as a Grant County sheriff before retiring in 2014. He has served as a local brand inspector since 2002 and joined the inspection team at Kist Livestock Auction in Mandan, N.D., in January.
"I'm excited for the job," Bay said. "Right now, I'm enjoying getting to know the people in the area."
Bay and his wife Jane have three daughters who live near Bismarck, Mandan and New Salem. He and his wife continue to raise horses and cattle on their ranch near Carson.
"Steve has a long history in ranching and law enforcement, and we are excited to welcome him aboard," said NDSA Chief Brand Inspector Stan Misek.
Bay joins the NDSA's brand inspection team that includes three licensed peace officers, more than 20 full-time and part-time brand inspectors and nearly 200 local inspectors.
