Beef Industry Military Appreciation Day set for July 21 at State Fair
The North Dakota Beef Commission, the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association and the North Dakota CattleWomen will salute active servicemen and servicewomen and their families at the North Dakota State Fair at the Beef Industry Military Appreciation Day. The free beef dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT (or until the food runs out) on Monday, July 21, in the Pioneer Village on the State Fairgrounds in Minot.
“Every day, thousands of military – at home and abroad – are fighting to protect our freedom so we can live freely and make a living off the land,” said North Dakota Beef Commission Chairman Jerry Schaefer of Des Lacs. “This is our small way of letting them know that North Dakota ranch families support their efforts,” said Stockmen’s Association President Mark Huseth of McLeod. “We’re proud of the beef we raise, and we will be proud to serve it to our troops.”
In addition to the free beef meal, the event will include children’s activities and prize drawings.
In celebration of Military Day, the North Dakota State Fair is also offering reduced gate admission for military personnel (with military ID and coupon), free carnival rides for military families from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (with military ID and coupon), $5 off the daily unlimited-carnival-ride wristband for the rest of the day (with military ID and coupon) and half-price Bull-A-Rama tickets July 22-23 (with military ID and coupon). Discount coupons are available online at http://www.ndstatefair.com.
This is the fifth year the beef industry will host Military Appreciation Day. More than 4,400 military troops and their families were honored the last four years.
