Beshear, Ross candidates for Clinton’s Ag secretary

NEW YORK — Steve Beshear, the former Democratic governor of Kentucky, is one of three top candidates Hillary Clinton is considering for secretary of Agriculture if she wins the presidency, The Hagstrom Report has learned on the sidelines of The James Beard Foundation Leadership Conference here.

California Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross, a former chief of staff for Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, is another top candidate, said a person involved in the Clinton transition.

The source declined to name the third person being considered, only describing that person as more surprising.

The James Beard Leadership Conference Leadership Awards Dinner is in progress at the Hearst Tower in New York.
