Black Hills Angus Association scholarship available for 2012-2013 school year

The Black Hills Angus Association (BHAA) is offering a $1,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year to an individual involved with Angus cattle and who resides in South Dakota or in a bordering state.

The application process is open to graduating high school seniors, or students currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, including technical institutions, for the 2012-2013 school year. Applicants are required to submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay on the topic “How I See Myself Advancing the Beef Industry,” along with a recent photo and listing of their school, church and community involvement.

The BHAA scholarship can be renewed one time if the student has achieved at least a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and carried enough credit hours to be considered a full-time student during the first year of the scholarship. The renewal scholarship will be awarded the first semester of the second year; it is not necessary to complete the application process again, but college transcripts and student status forms should be mailed to the BHAA scholarship chairman.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 1, 2012. Applications can be mailed to: BHAA Scholarship Program, c/o Mike Baker, 11446 Angus Lane, St. Onge, SD 57779. For an application package, contact Baker at msbaker@dishmail.net or call 605-642-9785.
