Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo to expand dates in 2011
October 25, 2010
RAPID CITY, SD – The Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo will start one day earlier in 2011, with official show dates running from Thursday, Jan. 27-Sunday, Feb. 6 in Rapid City.
According to Black Hills Stock Show General Manager Ron Jeffries, the earlier start date will be used to accommodate additional PRCA Rodeo performances, beginning on Jan. 27, 2011. Sutton Rodeos of Onida, SD, will produce the PRCA rodeo events, adding two rodeo performances for the upcoming show.
In the past, PRCA Bull Riding has been featured during the Show’s opening weekend. This year, fans will have an opportunity to experience both bull riding and rodeo performances the first weekend, with shows Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.
Horse events will begin on Jan. 23, prior to the official start of the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo, with a jackpot reining at the James Kjerstad Event Center. The Winter Classic AQHA Show will expand for the fourth year in a row, with a split-combined show utilizing a three-judge format for the first time. This three-judge format provides for triple points at the show.
The official start date for the Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo coincides with the opening of the trade show and activities at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
