Black Hills Summer Circuit Quarter Horse Show continues to be a main event

RAPID CITY, SD – Escalated fuel prices and a generally depressed economy – things you would expect could affect the success of most events. That wasn’t the case as horsemen from 16 states and Canada once again helped make the 2007 Black Hills Summer Circuit over the week of July 9-14 another major Quarter Horse event in the upper Midwest.

Hosted by the Rapid City Quarter Horse Association, Center Of The Nation Quarter Horse Association and the Black Hills Riding Club, the circuit was held at the Bray Arena and Event Center at the Central States Fairgrounds. Entry tallies of 2,800 reflected contestants from Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming and the Canadian Province of Alberta.

The ‘Summer Circuit’ offered 83 classes – judges for 2007 were Randy Alderson, Indiana; Jennifer Thompson, California; Sarah Bradley, Indiana; Tim Abler, Michigan and Caroline Fowler from North Carolina.

The annual exhibitors party was held on Wednesday evening and included the popular dog races sponsored as a fundraiser for the South Dakota Quarter Horse Youth Association. Divisional winners were eligible for the final race of the evening – the 2007 ‘Champion Of Champions.’ ‘Remington,’ a Weimaraner owned by Moriah Bain from Fort Collins, CO, bested the field to capture the 2007 honors.

Sunni Hecht of Lewistown, MT, and Girls Dig Me were multiple Circuit Champions with top placings in four events. They won the Hunter Under Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation in the Novice Division and also the same events in the Youth 13 & Under. Jean Robotham from Castle Rock, CO and her gelding Smooth N Chocolately won three Circuit Championships. She won the Amateur Western Horsemanship and Amateur Western Riding with her trainer, Bill Bormes, also from Castle Rock, capturing the Senior Western Riding Circuit Championship. This Is Dee One, owned by Holly Byers from Sherwood Park, Alberta, also captured three Circuit Championships – Performance Geldings, Youth Performance Geldings and Youth Trail.

RAPID CITY, SD – Escalated fuel prices and a generally depressed economy – things you would expect could affect the success of most events. That wasn’t the case as horsemen from 16 states and Canada once again helped make the 2007 Black Hills Summer Circuit over the week of July 9-14 another major Quarter Horse event in the upper Midwest.

Hosted by the Rapid City Quarter Horse Association, Center Of The Nation Quarter Horse Association and the Black Hills Riding Club, the circuit was held at the Bray Arena and Event Center at the Central States Fairgrounds. Entry tallies of 2,800 reflected contestants from Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming and the Canadian Province of Alberta.

The ‘Summer Circuit’ offered 83 classes – judges for 2007 were Randy Alderson, Indiana; Jennifer Thompson, California; Sarah Bradley, Indiana; Tim Abler, Michigan and Caroline Fowler from North Carolina.

The annual exhibitors party was held on Wednesday evening and included the popular dog races sponsored as a fundraiser for the South Dakota Quarter Horse Youth Association. Divisional winners were eligible for the final race of the evening – the 2007 ‘Champion Of Champions.’ ‘Remington,’ a Weimaraner owned by Moriah Bain from Fort Collins, CO, bested the field to capture the 2007 honors.

Sunni Hecht of Lewistown, MT, and Girls Dig Me were multiple Circuit Champions with top placings in four events. They won the Hunter Under Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation in the Novice Division and also the same events in the Youth 13 & Under. Jean Robotham from Castle Rock, CO and her gelding Smooth N Chocolately won three Circuit Championships. She won the Amateur Western Horsemanship and Amateur Western Riding with her trainer, Bill Bormes, also from Castle Rock, capturing the Senior Western Riding Circuit Championship. This Is Dee One, owned by Holly Byers from Sherwood Park, Alberta, also captured three Circuit Championships – Performance Geldings, Youth Performance Geldings and Youth Trail.
