Jerry and Dianna, Gary and Dar Dethlefs and families held their 45th Annual production sale at the ranch near Rockville, Neb., on Mar. 7, 2014. This operation was started in 1952 when Jerry's dad purchased his first registered Angus. Many of the cows in the herd can be traced back to those original genetics.
This is primarily a two year old operation. The bulls are fed and developed to sell as two's. Because of customer demand, they offer a select group of yearling bulls. The yearlings are the earliest born calves of 2013. The twos are developed with longevity and soundness as the main focus. They had been run out on grass in big pastures with little supplement all last summer and this past winter. The soundness and quality ran deep throughout the sale. Combining that with performance and calving ease genetics and these bulls will get the job done.
