Casey Tibbs documentary in the works
Documentary film maker Justin Koehler is in the early stages of developing “Floating Horses: The Life of Casey Tibbs,” through his Colorado-based company, Nowlin Town Productions. Koehler has already received commitments to help with the documentary from people who knew the nine-time World Champion Tibbs, including country music legend Charlie Daniels, sculptor Edd Hayes, who created the bronze statue of Tibbs on the saddle bronc Necktie for the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs; and Western film stuntman Dean Smith. Koehler is hoping to get some modern-day rodeo greats to be part of the film and is inviting anyone with photos or other memorabilia to come see him during his Country Christmas Weekend appearance Dec. 14 at the rodeo center in Fort Pierre, S.D.
