Dave and Jeremy Fordahl once again brought to town an outstanding set of both bulls and heifers. One thing comes to mind about this operation and that is the concern for the consumer. The Cedarflo motto “We’re family farmers depending on family farmers” definitely rings true when looking at this set of bulls and heifers. The offering was raised on milk and grass and developed on a high roughage ration. This is a true testament to the confidence the Fordahls have in their bulls and the concern they have for the buyers, they know they are getting a complete package. I thought this was a smooth looking set of Angus cattle that would add class and profit to any operation. Here are a few market toppers today:
Lot 43, Cedarflo Excitement 43, a Basin Excitement son sold for $8,500 to repeat customer Boyd Ellingson of Shadehill, S.D. This bull’s EPDs were BW 1.5, WW 65, YW 120, and Milk 28. His actual weights included 86 pounds at birth and a 754 pounds Adj. 205.
Selling for $6,500 was lot 283 Cedarflo Program 283. He will have his new home at the Arneson Ranch of Meadow, S.D. This HA Program 5652 son represented the breed well with EPDs of BW 1.6, WW 58, YW 99, and Milk 29. His actual birth weight was 89 pounds with and Adj. 205 of 720 pounds.
Lot 13 sold for $6,250 to Brian Schroeder. Cedarflo Excitement 13 is another Basin Excitement son that was 72 pounds at birth and had an Adj. 205 of 641 pounds. His EPDs are BW -0.9, WW 51, YW 93, and Milk 23.
Lot 313 a SydGen Mandate 6079 son and Lot 1083, son of HA Program 5652 sold for $5,750 to round out the top sellers.
The 30 yearling Angus heifers sold to Dan Christman and Sons of Hettinger, N.D.
It was a solid sale all the way through with competitive bidding from top to bottom. Congratulations to the Fordahls and the Cedarflo Ranch.
