Central States Fair: Livestock shows scheduled for Aug. 21-25

The Central States Fair livestock shows begin on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. with the Youth Market Goat Show, followed by the Youth Sheep Show and Youth Swine Show. “Last year was a first for the Market Goat and Swine shows and we are excited to offer them again this year,” said Andrea Hildebrandt, Livestock Coordinator.

Monday, Aug. 22 is the Youth Beef Show starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Black Hills Gold Futurity. The Black Hills Gold Futurity Show is a unique show exclusive to any female purchased at the 2011 Black Hills Stock Show.

The Livestock Committee is excited to announce an Open All Other Breeds Cattle Show to their livestock lineup this year. This show will be held in conjunction with the Angus show on Tuesday, Aug. 23. These two shows will compete for an Overall Champion Female and Overall Champion Bull. Shows start at 10 a.m. and are open to anyone, any age, to exhibit their registered animals.

On Wednesday, Aug. 25, the Boehringer-Ingelheim Pen of Three Cattle Show begins at 10 a.m. This show is a favorite among commercial cattlemen. Cattle will be judged on structural soundness, muscle development and uniformity.

Entry forms are due to the Central States Fair office by Aug. 12. Rules and Entry Forms are available online at http://www.centralstatesfair.com or by contacting Hildebrandt at 605-355-3861.
