Champions named at 2010 National Junior Angus show

More than 600 Angus juniors and their families traveled to Denver, CO, to compete in the 2010 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) July 11-17 at the National Western Stock Show Complex.

National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) members “Rushed to the Rockies” to exhibit 971 entries during the weeklong event that also included more than a dozen educational contests in addition to the cattle show.

Wesley Hudson, Harrison, AR, evaluated the 545 owned females. Doug Worthington, Modesto, CA, judged the 211 bred-and-owned females, 55 bred-and-owned bulls, 32 owned cow-calf pairs and 11 bred-and-owned cow-calf pairs. Randy Daniel, Colbert, GA, judged the 71 steers, and another 46 steers competed in the carcass contest.



Cashley Ahlberg, Longmont, CO, showed the grand champion owned female, Sedgwicks Erica U332.

John Jacobs, Sulphur, OK, led the reserve grand champion owned female.



In the bred-and-owned division, Cole Greiman, Garner, IA, captured grand champion honors with Greimans Blueblood Lady 109.

Garrett Blanchard, Firebaugh, CA, led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female, Silveiras Elba 8546.

Blanchard also won grand champion bred-and-owned bull honors with Silveiras Style 9303.

Ryan Callahan, Edmond, OK, led the reserve grand champion bull.

Lakyn Davis, Doerun, GA, showed the grand champion owned cow-calf pair.

Danielle Foster, Niles, MI, led the reserve grand champion owned cow-calf pair.

Foster also claimed grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair with Seldom Rest BA Blackbird.

Emily Piland, Rescue, CA, captured reserve grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair with PR Macy 108.

Samuel Wallace, Stotts City, MO, earned grand champion steer honors with WCC Cupid 936.

Amanda Goggin, Danville, KY, claimed reserve grand champion steer with Frahlings Lutton.

Meanwhile, Cortney Bromenshenk, Billings, MT, entered the winning entry in the carcass contest, CLB Romeo 906.
