COF report has record low July marketing totals
The cattle marketed out of feedlots in July, at 1.90 million head, was two percent below July, 2009, according to last Friday’s USDA monthly cattle on feed report. That total was also the lowest fed cattle marketings for the month of July since the monthly reports began in 1996.
The report also showed that placements in July totaled 1.75 million head, six percent below July, 2009, while total numbers of cattle on feed as of Aug. 1 were 9.9 million head, two percent above that number on Aug. 1, 2009.
