Contestant list set for 2011 Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo

MINOT, ND – The contestant list for the 2011 Ram Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in Minot has been finalized, and 95 cowboys and cowgirls from across North and South Dakota are making travel plans to head to Minot for this year’s Minot Y’s Men’s Rodeo.

Champions in both the Badlands Circuit and the nation pepper the contestant list for the upcoming rodeo.

Headlining the list is the seventh ranked saddle bronc rider in the world, Jesse Bail. The Camp Crook, SD cowboy is on his way towards his twelfth qualification for the National Finals Rodeo, ProRodeo’s “super bowl” competition. Bail has earned nearly $1.7 million dollars over his 14-year career.



The fifth ranked barrel racer in the world, Lisa Lockhart, will also compete in Minot. The Oelrichs, SD cowgirl comes into the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo in first place, with a lead of only $129 over the second place barrel racer, Nikki Steffes, Vale, SD.

Competitors from the Camp Crook/Buffalo area include saddle bronc riders Rollie Wilson, bareback rider Jet Price, and barrel racer Jessica Routier. Lodgepole resident Colin Lamont has been selected as a bullfighter for the event.



Other 2010 Badlands Circuit champs coming to defend their titles are team ropers Jeff Johnson, Seneca, NE, and Quincy Opela, Stapleton, NE; bareback rider Scott Montague, Rapid City, SD; steer wrestler Seth Murphy, South Heart, ND; barrel racer Jessica Routier, Buffalo, SD; and bull rider Abe Dillman, Grassy Butte, ND.

The Badlands Circuit is made up of the 22 ProRodeos across North and South Dakota. Qualifiers to the Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo must compete at a minimum of nine rodeos for Dakota residents and fifteen for non-residents.

Tickets are available for the Ram Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo, hosted by the Minot Y’s Men’s Rodeo. The rodeo, held Oct. 6-9 at the State Fair Center in Minot, determines the year-end champion for all ProRodeos in North and South Dakota. The rodeo will pay out approximately $108,000 and will determine the year-end and aggregate winner in each event, who will represent the circuit at the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo next March.
