Crapo doesn’t know if Trump has ag policy; Clinton campaigns in Omaha
August 4, 2016
Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, said here today he doesn't know if Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has an agricultural policy, a day after Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made a stop in Omaha where she campaigned with investor Warren Buffet and talked about infrastructure.
During the question and answer section of a speech to the International Sweetener Symposium, Crapo said he did not know Trump before he ran for president and that he has met him only twice in meetings.
Crapo also said he is "not aware that he has put out anything specifically related to agriculture. I will leave the answer there."
After the session, Crapo told The Hagstrom Report that he has been too busy working on his own re-election campaign to follow Trump's election bid. Crapo said he has not seen any of the polls taken after the Republican and Democratic conventions to comment on how Trump is doing.
"I really can't answer your question," Crapo said as he left the Coeur D'Alene Resort where the sugar growers are meeting.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton earned a seven-point convention bounce, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll, and CNN said the Democratic candidate now tops Trump 52 percent to 43 percent.
