Crawley brothers vie at Bay City rodeo

A pair of brothers finished 1-2 in the saddle bronc riding at the Matagorda County Fair & Rodeo in Bay City, TX, March 5, and there wasn’t a single Wright or DeMoss on the premises.

Sterling Crawley, a sophomore at Hill College, had an 83-point ride on Classic Pro Rodeo’s Four of a Kind to edge his older brother, Jacobs, by a point and eloquently make the point that these Texas brothers bear watching, too.

Jacobs Crawley, the elder by three years, is the reigning Dodge Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo champion and is 21st in the world rankings; Sterling is 28th in the world.

“I finish ahead of him (Jacobs) every here and there,” Sterling Crawley said. “He rides really, really well. At Bay City, I drew right, and it turned out great for me.

“A year ago, in college, he won the (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) Southern Region at Texas A&M, and we won six of the 10 saddle bronc titles during the year; we each had three wins. It’s absolutely awesome to be doing this with him. I couldn’t wish for any more.”
