Crook Co. fair up and running with new events
The Crook Co. fair in Sundance, WY, began this week, but there are still many events to take in before it’s over.
Running July 24-Aug. 1, the Crook Co. Fair has these events on the schedule: dunk tank, Clover Sprouts 4-H show, Fishing Derby, Robot Competition, trade show, bike rodeo, youth dance, parade, rodeo royalty contest, pig wrestling, and country music by Pat Liebsack, Doug Peterson and Bob Shoun. Throughout the week visitors can take in 4-H and FFA shows for cattle, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits, poultry, cats and pocket pets; plus all the non-livestock projects, such as arts, crafts, baking, canning, plants, flowers, etc.
On July 26, the 4-H/FFA Youth Horse show begins at 8 a.m.
Tuesday, July 27 the Ranch Horse Competition begins at 1 p.m. A youth Talent Show will also be held on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. there will be a Driving Contest, which you may enter that day. Division breakdowns consist of: Draft, Horse, Mule, Pony and Mini; classes are: Pleasure Driving, Obstacle, and Driver’s Choice. Rigs can be a single or double hitch, two-wheel cart or buggy, or four-wheel cart or buggy. There is an 18 and under division and an adult division. Featured on July 28, at 8 p.m., will be cowboy poet and musician T.J. Casey from Billings, MT, entertaining young and old with his fun poetry and cowboy music.
A timed event rodeo will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday July 29.
A community BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, July 31, with a 6 p.m. livestock sale.
Sunday is the grand finale with the Youth Rodeo starting at 10 a.m.
Sundance really gets into the spirit of things for the Crook Co. Fair, and with its beautiful location and easy access, it’s a great place to take the family for a great summer getaway.
