Cross Diamond Cattle Co. 2011 Annual Production Sale

A calm overcast day with moderate temperatures greeted a huge, standing room only, filled to the rafters, crowd at the Cross Diamond Cattle Company sale in Bertrand, NE on Dec. 12. Bidders and buyers were represented from 21 states. Scott and Kim Ford, along with their fine compliment of consignors, welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of cattlemen.

A special feature on the day was the Lot 21 bull, Crs Diamond 21 Gun Salute, an April 2010 son of BHR Copper D 773. All the proceeds of this bull was donated to the All-American Beef Battalion to allow deployed and returning American soldiers a free steak dinner. Silver Spur Ranches, Encampment, WY; Arcadia Land & Cattle, Stringtown, OK; and Horsley Red Angus, Stringtown, OK; purchased the bull for $7,000. They then donated the bull back to the Beef Battalion to be sold at the Mile High Classic Red Angus sale during the Denver Stock show on Jan. 8, 2012.

The high-selling bull, Crs Diamond Epic 0136, a Beckton Epic R522 son, went to Silver Spur Ranch, Encampment, WY, for $11,750.



Lot 58, Choat Jed X13, a Messmer Jed V510 son, was purchased by Croissant Red Angus, Briggsdale, CO, for $11,500.

Lot 1, Crs Diamond Priceless 0423, a Beckton Julian B571 son from a Rambo cow, sold to Silver Spur Ranch for $11,000.



Also selling for $11,000 was Lot 186, Crs Diamond Epic 0437, another Beckton Epic R522 son, to Silver Spur Ranch.

Full brothers, Lot 4 and Lot 77, Crs Diamond Hustler 0415 and Crs Diamond Hustler 0433, sold to Gilroy Land and Cattle at Dalton and Alliance, NE for $10,000 and $10,500, respectively.

The high-selling registered heifer was Lot 210, Crs Diamond Epic 0197, a Beckton Epic R522 daughter to Horsley Red Angus for $4,500.

Lot 209, Crs Diamond Colleen 0162, a Crs Diamond Colossal 6080 daughter, sold to Arcadia Land and Cattle for $4,000. Also purchased by Arcadia Land and Cattle was Lot 211, Crs Diamond Tradition 015, a 5L Tradition 795-6707 daughter for $4,000.

Top-selling packages of bred heifers were purchased by Gerald Bousquet, Hubbard, NE; Jason Edwards, Bernard, IA; and Aron Hostetler, Cairo, NE. Volume buyers of bred heifers were Arcadia Land and Cattle and Jr. Lueking, Yuma, CO.

Volume bull buyers were Glenn Cattle Company, Fort Morgan, CO; Silver Spur Ranch, Encampment, WY; and Jay LeBlanc, East Bernard, TX.

Volume heifer buyer was Fewell Ranch, Groesback, TX.
