Dana Duvall places third in national horse-demo competition

BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota 4-H’er Dana Duvall of Huron placed third at the Western National 4-H Roundup Horse Demonstration Contest held at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO.

Dana is the daughter of Dennis and Kathy Duvall of Huron. Her demonstration was titled “How To Fit an English Saddle.” She earned the right to represent South Dakota at the national contest as the winner of the South Dakota 4-H Horse Show held last summer.

The Western National 4-H Roundup is one of the nation’s most challenging competitions for youth interested in horses, attracting top young people from across the U.S. each year. A highly competitive event for young people ages 14-18, the contest provides participants with an opportunity to develop skills in evaluation, decision-making, communication, self-discipline, and responsibility.

The Livestock Industry Trust Fund sponsored Duvall’s efforts in the national arena.
