Democrats call for release of TPP text
October 12, 2015
Seven Democrats led by Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., who have been critical of the Trans-Pacific Partnership process today called for immediate release of the agreement text.
In a media advisory, DeLauro noted that Trade Representative Michael Froman said earlier this week it could be as long as a month before the deal is written and transmitted to Congress.
"For over two years, these seven representatives have been calling on the administration to end the secrecy that has shrouded this massive deal and make the TPP public," DeLauro said.
"The negotiations, which have lasted for over five years, have taken place under unprecedented secrecy."
The members scheduled to join DeLauro at a press conference were Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, Lloyd Doggett of Texas, Bill Pascrell of New Jersey, Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, Tim Ryan of Ohio and Keith Ellison of Minnesota.
