Evenson Angus from Hettinger, ND hosted their 30th Annual Production sale at the Lemmon Livestock Auction, Lemmon, SD on April 18. Evenson Angus is a family operation consisting of brothers Bill and Wally and their families. Bill and Eleanora’s grandson Tyler recently joined the operation full time marking the 5th generation of Evenson’s farming and ranching in southwestern North Dakota.

This operation has stood the test of time by producing functional cattle that will thrive in the harsh environment of the area. This was a thick, stout set of bulls with plenty of length and extra growth. They had been developed on a high roughage, low starch ration and were in good sale condition. The heifers had been fed alfalfa and grass hay with a little corn silage.

The high selling bull was Lot 9328, Evenson Top Honors 9328, a 3/10/09 son of JD Top Honors R543 with EPDs of BW 1.2, WW 60, Milk 29 and YW 95. Longtime repeat buyer Dorwin Howe of Hettinger, ND was the buyer at $5,200.

Lot 952, Evenson Balancer 952, a 2/3/09 son of Koupals B & B Balancer 4017, sold to Jordan Christman of Hettinger, ND for $4,000. This bull posted EPDs of BW 2.4, WW 68, Milk 23 and YW 120.

Christman also bought Lot 904, Evenson Cincha 904, a 1/27/09 bull sired by HARB Cincha 829, for $3,500. This bull has EPDs of BW 1.7, WW 59, Milk 30 and YW 106.

Lot 975, Evenson Kahuna 975, a 2/6/09 bull by River Hills Kahuna 175M, with EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 65, Milk 23 and YW 109 sold to Stanly Wilkenson of Prairie City, SD for $3,300.

Lot 9178, Evenson Windy 9178, a 2/19/09 son of HARB Windy 702 JH, sold to Chuck Anderson of Lemmon, SD for $3,200. This bull has EPDs of BW 2.0, WW 67, Milk 27 and YW 105.

The top selling two-year-old bull was Lot 8607, Evenson New Frontier 8607, a 8/3/08 bull sired by Rally New Frontier 5233, with EPDs of BW 3.5, WW 63, Milk 17 and YW 110. Dan Engraf of Hettinger, ND was the buyer at $3,400.
