Colton Kleinschmidt, Sutton, Neb., exhibited the champion feeder steer, a crossbred, at the Sioux Empire Farm Show Feeder Steer Show Jan. 29 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The reserve champion feeder steer, a crossbred, was exhibited by Katelyn Hartwig, Albany, Minn.

Jara Settles, Leavenworth, Kan., evaluated a total of 101 head in 22 classes.

Third through 10th places overall were as follows: Marin Eeg, Greenbush, Minn., crossbred; Payton Beare, Ree Heights, S.D., Maine-Anjou; Gavin Mulder, Jackson, Minn., crossbred; Justin Beeson, Correctionville, Iowa, Chianina; Lacey Schmitz, Oakes, N.D., Charolais Composite; Keaton Krieg, Kingsley, Iowa, Simmental; Shea Varner, Mazon, Ill., crossbred; and Talli Heim, Wessington Springs, S.D., crossbred.

Champions and reserves in each of the classes are as follows: Angus: Wyat James, Raymond, S.D.; Charolais: Justin Donohoe, Parnell, Iowa; Thomas Netzke, Lamberton, Minn.; Charolais Composite: Lacey Schmitz; Trenna Cherney, Richland Center, Wis.; Chianina: Justin Beeson; Hannah Webb, Groton, S.D.; ChiMaine: Scottie Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa; Max Forsyth, Charles City, Iowa; Hereford: Dawson Minor, Bondurant, Iowa; Laura Ellsworth, Elkhorn, Wis.; Maine-Anjou: Payton Beare; Quinn Byker, Sioux Center, Iowa; MaineTainer: Ashlyn Laffey, Maryville, Mo.; Talli Heim; Shorthorn Plus: Tejlor Strope, O’Neill, Neb.; Nick Thate, Fairmont, Minn.; and Simmental: Keaton Krieg; Payton Waage, Greenbush, Minn.

Classes 14 through 22 were crossbred classes that were broken down into three divisions. The champions and reserves in each division are as follows: Division 1: Talli Heim; Bailey Kroupa, White Lake, S.D.; Division 2: Marin Eeg; Shea Varner; and Division 3: Colton Kleinschmidt; Katelyn Hartwig.
