Fremont County Farm and Ranch Days to be Feb. 12-13
Riverton’s Armory Building is hosting Fremont County Farm and Ranch Days Wednesday andThursday, Feb. 12-13.
In addition to pesticide applicator certification classes, more than 30 sessions cover topics from iPad technology on farms and ranches to fertilizer rates and agricultural marketing.
Free, concurrent sessions each day are 9 a.m.- 3:45 p.m. with lunch provided at noon. A complete schedule is at http://bit.ly/2014farmandranch. Jason Fearneyhough, Wyoming Department of Agriculture director, is the lunch speaker Wednesday. Cindy Garretson-Weibel, director of the Agribusiness Division of the Wyoming Business Council, is the Thursday lunch speaker.
University of Wyoming, USDA, BLM, Wyoming State Forestry, Rocky Mountain Agronomy and a variety of other subject-matter experts will present on familiar and new topics for farmers, ranchers and small-acreage owners.
Session subjects include risk management, fermentation, keeping vs. selling cull cows, post-fire rehabilitation, sage grouse predators, weather forecast tools, soil health, wild horse population control, nitrogen stability and grazing afterdrought-induced crop failure.
