Frey Angus 2012 Bull Sale
May 22, 2012
Frey Angus Ranch held their annual production sale at the ranch near Granville, ND on April 22, 2012.
Brothers Lynn, Arlen and Edward Frey, and their families, presented a very nice set of strong aged and yearling Angus bulls and yearling Red Angus bulls for their 37th annual sale. This outfit is known for producing performance bulls with extra length, rib and style.
The bulls had not been creep fed and were developed on a high roughage ration to ensure soundness and longevity. Since Freys have a later sale, the bulls are not pushed for excessive gains but developed slower for added soundness, fertility and longevity. There was a bull to fit most any operation, with nearly 70 percent of the offering identified by Frey Angus as calving ease.
The top selling bull of the day was Lot 28, FAR Upward 169Y, a January 2011 son of Sitz Upward 307R. This bull had a 205-day weight of 826 pounds, 365-day weight of 1,325 pounds and EPDs of BW 2.7, WW 68, YW 124 and Milk 30. Roy Kuhn, Peever, SD, was the buyer at $12,000.
