Ft. Pierre market celebrates 12th annual ‘WLAC Anniversary Sale’ June 5
Two former World Livestock Auctioneer Champions will be on hand Friday, June 5 at Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, SD. Market co-owner Dennis Hanson has announced that 1981 Champion Doug Jaggers, and 2003 winner Jon Schaben will be selling cattle as part of the market’s “12th Annual WLAC Anniversary Sale.” It was in 1997 that Ft. Pierre hosted the WLAC.
The champion bid-catchers are certain to be busy, as the market expects “11,000 high quality calves and yearlings,” including about 4,000 fall calves and 7,000 grass and feeder yearlings and replacement heifers. There will be no weighup cattle at this sale, which will kick off at 8 a.m. sharp with the calves and yearlings, 350-1150 lbs, many off grass, and a large number home-raised. Many top quality, bangs-vaccinated replacement heifers will also be offered. A free beef barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
