Gene Eldon Litton

Gene Eldon Litton, 84, of Gillette, Wyo., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his winter home in Beaver Dam, Ariz. Gene was born April 24, 1929, in Clarkston, Wash., to Gile and Lola (Pierce Litton). Gene’s family settled on a ranch near Hardin. Gene enjoyed growing up on the ranch and being a Cowboy.

In 1951, Gene and Alma Spitzer were united in marriage in Billings. They had four children, Connie (CJ), Kirk, Greg, and Todd. Gene worked road construction as a heavy equipment operator. He later moved the family to Iowa where he and Alma managed the world’s largest egg producing plant, and he became active in the National High School Rodeo Assoc. In the early 70’s, Gene moved the family to Edgar, Mont., where he helped run the family ranch.

Gene met Pat Isenberger in 1975 through the NHSRA and they were married in 1980 in Gillette, Wyo. Gene moved to Gillette and helped Pat and her son Lee run the ranch until the time of his death. Gene was involved in many community organizations, but the one dearest to his heart was the NHSRA.

He also had many hobbies and interests and loved learning a little bit about everything. Some of these included stock dogs, flying his airplane, building and restoring old wagons, and of course his love of music, especially the fiddle.

Gene is survived by his wife, Pat; sister, Lois; brother, Roger; daughter Connie Jean (Tim) Wyman; Sons Kirk (Bess) Litton; Greg (Lisa) Litton; Todd (Erin) Litton and stepson Lee (Peggy) Isenberger; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the National High School Rodeo Foundation, Wyoming Stockdog Assoc., Gillette College and Rodeo Building Fund.

Services were held at the Family Life Church in Gillette, Wyo., Thursday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in the Virgin Mortuary “Guest Book” at
